Ihsan is often translated as “doing good” or “doing what is beautiful” and is closely linked to the concept of Taqwa (piety). This means that one should perform their duties and responsibilities to the best of their ability, with sincerity, and with the intention of pleasing Allah.

- Ihsan is described in the Hadith of Gabriel, where Muhammad states, “[Ihsan is] to worship God as though you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, then indeed He sees you”. The Quran uses the term “Muhsin” to refer to the person who strives towards Ihsan.
