If fasting during Ramadan is particularly challenging due to circumstances in a non-Islamic country, a Muslim should make every effort to fast while considering any allowable exemptions. If the difficulty is extreme, they can consult with a knowledgeable Islamic scholar for guidance on alternatives, such as making up the fast later or offering fidyah (compensation).
