According to Islamic teachings, Muslims should resolve disputes with their neighbors through reconciliation, or sulh which roughly translates to compromise, conciliation, or an amicable settlement: 

• Qur’an verse
  The Qur’an encourages Muslims to make peace between believers who are in a quarrel, with justice and fairness. The verse says, “If two parties among the believers fall into a quarrel, make peace between them with justice and be fair. For God loves those who are fair and just” (Qur’an Nisa: 128).
