Salat-ul-Janazah (funeral prayer) is performed as follows:

1. Stand in rows behind the body.

2. Make the niyyah (intention) for the prayer.

3. Raise hands and say “Allahu Akbar” (Takbir).

4. Recite the following:

Al-Fatiha (first Takbir).

Salat Alan-Nabi (second Takbir).

Dua for the deceased (third Takbir).

Dua for the living (fourth Takbir).

5. End the prayer with Tasleem (turning the head to the right and left).
