The Five Pillars of Islam are fundamental acts of worship and practice that define a Muslim’s faith and actions. They are :
1. Shahada (Faith): The declaration of faith, stating that “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.” This is the central tenet of Islam.
2. Salat (Prayer): Muslims are required to perform five daily prayers at prescribed times throughout the day: at dawn, midday, mid-afternoon, sunset, and night.
3. Zakat (Charity): The giving of a fixed portion (usually 2.5%) of one’s wealth to the poor and needy, typically on an annual basis.
4. Sawm (Fasting): Observing the fast during the month of Ramadan, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs from dawn to sunset as an act of spiritual discipline and empathy for the less fortunate.
5. Hajj (Pilgrimage): The pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca, which every Muslim who is physically and financially able must undertake at least once in their lifetime.
These pillars form the foundation of a Muslim’s
