During Ramadan, fasting requires abstaining from food, drink, and sinful behavior from dawn (Fajr) to sunset (Maghrib) with the intention of worship. Exceptions apply for those who are sick, traveling, pregnant, nursing, elderly, or menstruating. Missed fasts should be made up or compensated.
